Here’s a fun and straightforward Valentine’s Day recipe that you can make with minimal effort:

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium eggs
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 cup of buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 cups of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons of hot coffee
  • 1 teaspoon of red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • Frosting (for layering and topping)

Preparation Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together thoroughly.
  3. Add the eggs and beat well.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the coffee, cocoa, and red food coloring, then add to the creamed mixture and beat.
  5. Dissolve the baking soda in the buttermilk and stir well.
  6. Combine the flour and salt, then add to the creamed mixture alternately with the buttermilk mixture.
  7. Pour the batter into two greased and floured 8-inch round cake pans.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes.
  9. Allow to cool in the pans for 15 minutes, then remove and let cool completely.
  10. Spread frosting between the layers and on top of the cake.
