Dean, Donna and their daughter Rebekah joined in to help El Renuevo Ministries and the 1st United Methodist Church of McDonough sponsors on a large Medical Team traveling the rivers in the Amazon Basin.

From July 14-July 29, 2000, we were privileged to be a part of a team of 35 people, organized by a local Methodist church. Through this effort, we medically treated over 2400 patients in Venezuela in 3 days.

We have been limitedly involved and supplied some medical equipment to the El Renuevo Medical Boat Ministry. This developing boat medical ministry in Venezuela that will provide medical care to over 25,000 people on the Apure and Orinocco Rivers making continuous trips along these rivers sites.

We see this as crucial, as the people suffer tremendously from parasitic disease/anemia secondary to horrible water/sanitation conditions. Interim trips by medical teams provide temporary (21 days) relief of disease only. Permanent medical intervention, whether in a clinic facility or a boat will provide continuity of treatment, something never before available.
