There are two ongoing works in Mexico working with Missions International and Mexican Ministries.
There is a Clinic and Bible School in Chenalo in Chiapas State, high in the mountains where the Zapatistas have been struggling for many years. Another Clinic is under construction in the Yucatan in Quintana Roo State. Both of these areas will be serving indigent Indians where the need is great.
Dr. Mays was also the Medical Director for Missions International, a non-profit, non-denominational organization based in Carrolton, Texas in the year 2000. The vision for Missions International is, among other endeavors, to send teams out internationally to drill wells, build churches, orphanages and medical clinics. To date, we have a functional, but non-stocked clinic in Chenalo, Mexico. We had a team of 25 people there July 29-August 5, 2000. We attended over 570 patients medically in 2½ days and built a permanent church structure. We are nearing the completion of a clinic in Bacalar, Mexico.
