The Luke Foundation Trust is a new entity formed by bringing in and
merging with our prior ministry, Kingdom Medical Ministries, founded
in October of 1988. A non-profit and non-denominational corporation
founded by Dr. Aldine (Dean) M. Mays, a Radiologist
and Family Practitioner for over 32 years, and his wife Donna
S. Mays, BSN.
With the burden to attend those in need, to offer relief and healing physically, emotionally and spiritually, Dr. Mays, and whenever possible, the entire family, have been enabled to minister to the needs of the indigent on an international level. Since it's inception, Dr. Mays, and when possible, wife Donna and daughter Rebekah have traveled to Columbia, South America (numerous times for Dr. Mays), Puerto Rico, Guam, Panama, Trinidad, Sudan, several sites in Mexico, and Venezuela providing medical intervention as was possible.
Retired from full time practice 1998 until 2001, we found our medical ministry to increase rapidly. From May to July in 1999, Dr. Mays served as attending physician/surgeon in Sudan with the organization Samaritan's Purse, founded by Franklin Graham. We have been available to assist other Ministries, as we believe in sharing what God has given us, as well as establishing and overseeing our own works.
Each of these works takes an ongoing supply of personnel, medications and supplies. We whole-heartedly believe in each of them as a future reality. We know, first hand, how direly needed they are. We are aware that there are many indigent in our own country. We have also come to realize the multitude of programs supplied by our government, for which we are grateful that there are answers and assistance. However, in third world countries, they have no answers and no one to turn to. There are no government programs in existence to change the sewer systems, provide immunizations or prenatal care, or feed the hungry. In one area of Venezuela, malaria dropped 90% because an organization provided a $500 treadle sewing machine (no electricity) to make netting.
We offer our organization to you for evaluation. We strongly believe in what we feel we have been called to do, which seems to be growing rapidly. We do know that we can, and know how to, address the physical needs in third world countries. We gravely seek your support-through donations and sponsorship. We deeply appreciate your reception of our plea and vision; and we gratefully receive any positive offer in response.
